Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère — 3 mins from the hotel

Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère has preserved the authenticity and serenity of the medieval towns of the Périgord Noir. Its traditional ‘coyaux’ roofs, golden stone walls, narrow alleys — known as couredous — and the gentle flow of the Vézère river make it a place frozen in time.

Three exceptional residences grace the village: the Manoir de la Salle with its 14th-century keep, the Château de Clérans whose round towers are reflected in the river, and the (private) Château de Chabans, showcasing the transition to the Renaissance. The 12th-century Romanesque church, a listed Historic Monument, hosts the Périgord Noir Music Festival every summer, thanks to its exceptional acoustics.

Nearby, the Conquil troglodyte site reveals prehistoric cliff dwellings. Finally, the Côte de Jor offers a breathtaking panorama over the valley, while local artisans and artists bring the village to life throughout the year.
